I think >=4.6 is the way.
The possible problem for a (doubtfully existing?) legacy user does not compare to the inconvenience of maintaining backwards compatibility.
Furthermore, updating is cheap. My opinion though.

had to be taken into account. Everything after Qt 4.6 works fine here, no
painting issues anymore.
