[wdiff-bugs] wdiff 0.5.93 pre-test released

From: Denver Gingerich
Subject: [wdiff-bugs] wdiff 0.5.93 pre-test released

wdiff 0.5.93 is available at
http://alpha.gnu.org/gnu/wdiff/wdiff-0.5.93.tar.gz or from CVS (tagged
RELEASE_0_5_93). The fixes since 0.5.92 are listed below. Again, the
size of the distribution tarball has increased significantly (from
719K to 876K). This is primarily due to the addition of the getopt
and regex modules from gnulib and their dependencies.

Fixes since 0.5.92:
- split wdiff and wdiff2 help strings to facilitate translation (as
per Benno's suggestion)
- update gnulib modules to gnulib 2007-05-28
- add getopt and regex gnulib modules for compiling without glibc,
such as on Solaris 8 (reported by Christopher Vollick)
- fix compiler warnings with GCC 3.4.2 on Solaris 8
- add manpages to the distribution so users don't need help2man
(reported by Christopher Vollick)
- "./configure; make; make distclean" leaves no extra files (reported
by Santiago); this is largely a side-effect of other fixes in this
version

Here are the issues left to fix:
- cleanup remaining documentation problems described by Benno [1]; the
ones he specifically described are fixed but there still appears to be
quite a disconnect between the info page, the --help output and the
actual behavior of the applications
- force "make check" to use the newly-compiled wdiff instead of
whatever is in the PATH

>From the 0.5.92 release message (still relevant):

I still have to update some copyright information and the ChangeLogs,
but this version should be basically releasable. Please report any
issues you have with this version.

I would really appreciate some help with updating the info pages to
reflect the real behavior of the programs. It should be fairly
straight-forward, but I can provide some pointers if needed. Patches
are very welcome.

If anyone knows of an easy way to extract all of the CVS commit logs
between two revisions, let me know. The CVS commit logs are very
detailed and would serve as a nice ChangeLog for this release until I
update the ChangeLogs.
