How about setting up an International calendar for women-centric FOSS events? Things like the Ruby on Rails workshops, the Systers Code Sprint and other events that are particularly geared towards encouraging women to work in and with FOSS projects?
Here in Portland, OR we have an awesome tech calendar called Calagator:
Calagator was developed by a team of volunteers lead by Audrey Eschright (I wasn't involved, but I think the website is an incredible resource) - of Open Source Bridge fame - Audrey was one of the conference co-chairs.
The source code is available here:
I expect I could find a few Systers to work on the site, maybe in partnership with DevChix (?) and any other interested organizations or individuals. It seems like this might be a good beginning collaborative effort across our many different communities.
The application runs on Rails -- so it also ties in nicely with the Ruby-on-Rails Workshops for Women projects.
Comments?
Thanks,
Jen
