Ciao,
  Andrea.

Hello, fellow translators!

This year was relatively calm, though many teams were much more
active than in 2015 (I'd like to mention our Dutch, Italian
and Polish teams; the Spanish and especially the French team were
really great in keeping the translations up-to-date).

The number of translations per file in important directories still
grows slowly, in September it reached its maximum, in terms of file
number (8.2), and currently it's maximal in terms of size (7.7).

     General Statistics

The table below shows the number and size of newly translated articles
and the translations that were converted to the PO format in important
directories (as of 2016-12-30). Only the translations
from the `important' directories are taken into account, and errors
are likely.

* Indonesian files were GNUNified by our French co-ordinator,
  Thérèse Godefroy.

# The Lithuanian translations and updates were submitted by a single
volunteer without establishing a new team.

@ Brazilian Portuguese translations and updates were submitted
by team to Web Translation Managers and committed without
  a co-ordinator.

& Typical percent of outdated GNUNified translations throughout
  the year.

^ Total amount of translations to GNUNify for all teams,
  including the inactive ones.

(For the reference: 10 new articles were added, amounting to 90Ki,
and there were about 500 modifications of English files in important
directories.)

     Orphaned Teams

Our Polish team has done an impressive job of GNUNifying old
translations, but it still needs a new co-ordinator.

Our Brazilian Portuguese co-ordinator stepped down, but fortunately,
the team itself continued their work.

Also, our Arabic team has technical difficulties and is not as active
as desirable.

     New and Reformed Teams

No new teams were established.

Changes in the Page Regeneration System

There was a new GNUN release, with the most notable new feature
being support for sorted lists (used in
/philosophy/fs-translations.html and /philosophy/words-to-avoid.html).

GNU Pootle instance is down, together with other services like
planet.gnu.org hosted on chapters.gnu.org.

Happy GNU year, and thank you for your contributions!

(I see nothing secret in this message, so if you think it may be
interesting to people who are not subscribed to the list, please
feel free to forward it).
