This has been standard behavior since forever. The cssc equivalent command is not making this directory, which makes the command much less convenient. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: _______________________________________________ Message sent via/by Savannah http://savannah.gnu.org/ From MAILER-DAEMON Sat Apr 21 21:47:13 2012 Received: from list by lists.gnu.org with archive (Exim 4.71) id 1SLltR-0003rN-Tn for mharc-bug-cssc@gnu.org; Sat, 21 Apr 2012 21:47:13 -0400 Received: from eggs.gnu.org ([208.118.235.92]:57106) by lists.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1SLltP-0003rH-F2 for bug-cssc@gnu.org; Sat, 21 Apr 2012 21:47:12 -0400 Received: from Debian-exim by eggs.gnu.org with spam-scanned (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1SLltN-0000Dh-OX for bug-cssc@gnu.org; Sat, 21 Apr 2012 21:47:11 -0400 Received: from savannah.gnu.org ([140.186.70.70]:50495 helo=frontend.savannah.gnu.org) by eggs.gnu.org with esmtp (Exim 4.71) (envelope-from ) id 1SLltN-0000Dc-L5 for bug-cssc@gnu.org; Sat, 21 Apr 2012 21:47:09 -0400 Received: from www-data by frontend.savannah.gnu.org with local (Exim 4.72) (envelope-from ) id 1SLltN-0003IY-3x for bug-cssc@gnu.org; Sun, 22 Apr 2012 01:47:09 +0000 Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2012 01:47:09 +0000 To: bug-cssc@gnu.org X-PHP-Originating-Script: 0:sendmail.php From: anonymous X-Savane-Server: savannah.gnu.org:443 [140.186.70.70] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain;charset=UTF-8 X-Savane-Project: cssc X-Savane-Tracker: bugs X-Savane-Item-ID: 36269 User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Ubuntu; Linux i686; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0 X-Apparently-From: 69.228.91.112 Message-Id: <20120422-014708.sv0.60770@savannah.gnu.org> References: In-Reply-To: X-detected-operating-system: by eggs.gnu.org: GNU/Linux 2.6 (newer, 2) X-Received-From: 140.186.70.70 Subject: [Bug-cssc] [bug #36269] "sccs create" loses execute permissions X-BeenThere: bug-cssc@gnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1.14 Precedence: list List-Id: "Discussion of GNU CSSC, a clone of SCCS" List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: List-Post: List-Help: List-Subscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2012 01:47:12 -0000 URL: Summary: "sccs create" loses execute permissions Project: GNU CSSC Submitted by: None Submitted on: Sun 22 Apr 2012 01:47:08 AM UTC Category: None Severity: 3 - Normal Item Group: None Status: None Privacy: Public Assigned to: None Open/Closed: Open Discussion Lock: Any _______________________________________________________ Details: An "sccs create myfile" command, where myfile had execute permissions beforehand, destroys those execute permissions. Standard SCCS copies the execute permissions to the SCCS/s.myfile > file, and does not remove them from the original file. Preserving execute permissions is a feature that was added by Sun in 1986. CSSC is not a complete SCCS reimplementation and CSSC in special does not implement all useful Sun extension even though it implements at least one bug from Sun SCCS (a missing newline while printing flags). If you like to get all know useful extensions, I recommend to use standard SCCS from: http://sccs.berlios.de/ ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/sccs/ It is true OpenSource Since December 2006 and has been ported to all major platforms in early 2007.
