For more context, see the original announcement copied at the bottom. At the time of writing this message, the old erc-discuss@ address is currently set up as an alias, redirecting mail to the new emacs-erc@ address for the time being. Please update your address books and/or filters to use the new address instead. If you notice any issues, please don't hesitate to email me directly. Going forward, emacs-erc will be the only active ERC mailing list, and erc-announce and erc-commit are now officially retired. As mentioned previously, I will merge the member subscriptions from the now retired lists into emacs-erc soon after posting this message. The listinfo pages for erc-announce [0] and erc-commit [1] have been updated, pointing the reader to emacs-erc [2]. The old erc-discuss archives are preserved and continue to be available at [3]. Sorry for the noise. I think I found the answer.=C2=A0 Set= ting erc-email-user-id before calling erc-tls fixes this.

Hi everyone,

I have been usi= ng rcirc for a while now, with the following setup:

(defun rcirc-connect-work ()
=C2=A0 "Con= nect directly to work's internal IRC network."
=C2=A0 (interact= ive)
=C2=A0 (rcirc-connect "irc.internal.net" 6443
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2= =A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0"gkeramidas" "gkeramid= as"
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0&= quot;Georgios Keramidas"
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 = =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0'("#channel1" "#channel2" "= ;#channel3")
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2= =A0 =C2=A0"0123-4567-89ab-cdef" 'tls))

<= br>
Where "gkeramidas" is my nick-name, and also my TLS= user name, and "0123-4567-89ab-cdef" is my password TLS authenti= cation.

When I try to connect with ERC though I ge= t this failure:

[Mon Mar = 16 2020]
Opening connection.. =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 = =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2= =A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0 =C2=A0[11:21]-irc.internal.net- *** Looking up your hostname...
-irc.internal.net- = *** Couldn't look up your hostname
*** Password incorrect
=3D=3D&= gt; ERROR from irc.in= ternal.net: Closing Link: [my:own:ipv6:address]
=C2=A0 =C2=A0 (PAM a= uthentication failed)

Connection failed!=C2=A0 Re-establishing c= onnection...

If I enable protocol debug= ging, I see this:

nil >= ;> PASS 7c30-3601-bc70-52c2^M
nil >> NICK gkeramidas^M
nil &= gt;> USER user 0 * :unknown^M
nil << :irc.internal.net NOTICE AUTH :*** Looking = up your hostname...
nil << :irc.internal.net NOTICE AUTH :*** Couldn't look up = your hostname
nil << :irc.internal.net 464 gkeramidas :Password Incorrect
nil = << ERROR :Closing Link: [my:own:ipv6:address] (PAM authentication fai= led)

It looks like TLS username is &quo= t;user" here, and erc-tls has no :keyword arg to set it.
How can I define which TLS user name to use?
