Go to http://www.rubyide.org/ for details. If there are no major bugs reported in the next couple weeks, then we will relabel this 0.5.0 final release. In its current state, FreeRIDE cannot yet be called a real IDE. What is does have is a stable infrastructure with all the working plumbing needed for the hordes of anxious Ruby developers that want to create plugins to extend the functionality of FreeRIDE. The FreeRIDE team will be working on such FreeRIDE plugins that we will individually release to incrementally improve the FreeRIDE system. Periodically we will rollup these added plugins into new releases of FreeRIDE. Even if you have not officially joined the FreeRIDE team you can still create plugins for you own use, share them with others, or send them to us and we will make them available for download from our project wiki. We may even ask your for your permission to include them in the FreeRIDE core distribution. WHAT IS FREERIDE FreeRIDE aims to be a full-featured, first-class IDE on a par with those available for other languages, with all the best-of-breed features that you would expect in a high-end IDE. You can see some screenshots here: http://www.rubyide.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ScreenShots Some of FreeRIDE's features include: - Multi-file editing - Syntax highlighting - Auto-indenting - Source navigation by module, class, method, etc. - Integrated debugging - Written in Ruby for easy extension Some planned features include: - Full internationalization - High-end refactoring support - Remote pair programming Have fun! I'm going to go get some sleep, now. :-) Curt From MAILER-DAEMON Mon Apr 28 02:52:33 2003 Received: from list by monty-python.gnu.org with archive (Exim 4.10.13) id 19A2UP-00031A-00 for mharc-freeride-announce@gnu.org; Mon, 28 Apr 2003 02:51:49 -0400 Received: from list by monty-python.gnu.org with tmda-scanned (Exim 4.10.13) id 19A2PD-0008DB-00 for freeride-announce@nongnu.org; Mon, 28 Apr 2003 02:46:27 -0400 Received: from mail by monty-python.gnu.org with spam-scanned (Exim 4.10.13) id 19A2PB-0008AU-00 for freeride-announce@nongnu.org; Mon, 28 Apr 2003 02:46:26 -0400 Received: from h002.c000.snv.cp.net ([209.228.32.66] helo=c000.snv.cp.net) by monty-python.gnu.org with smtp (Exim 4.10.13) id 19A2Ow-0007my-00 for freeride-announce@nongnu.org; Mon, 28 Apr 2003 02:46:10 -0400 Received: (cpmta 20500 invoked from network); 27 Apr 2003 23:46:05 -0700 Received: from 148.63.129.187 (HELO l5) by smtp.hibbs.com (209.228.32.66) with SMTP; 27 Apr 2003 23:46:05 -0700 X-Sent: 28 Apr 2003 06:46:05 GMT From: "Curt Hibbs" To: , Date: Sun, 27 Apr 2003 23:46:00 -0700 Message-ID: MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Priority: 3 (Normal) X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook IMO, Build 9.0.2416 (9.0.2911.0) X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2800.1106 Importance: Normal X-Mailman-Approved-At: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 02:51:46 -0400 Subject: [FR-announce] ANN: FreeRIDE 0.5.0 Final Release X-BeenThere: freeride-announce@nongnu.org X-Mailman-Version: 2.1b5 Precedence: list List-Id: List-Help: List-Post: List-Subscribe: , List-Archive: List-Unsubscribe: , X-List-Received-Date: Mon, 28 Apr 2003 06:46:35 -0000 The final release of FreeRIDE version 0.5.0 is available for download!
