This is a release candidate for GNU Go 3.4. Let us test it for a few days. I hope there will be no changes to the engine after this before 3.4. (Go ahead and send in your patches. If they affect the engine they can go into 3.5.1.) Doc revision is of course welcome at this point. (New writing or rewriting but no major reorganizations.) If you want to submit any documentation and don't want to write texinfo we can convert ascii documentation. I don't think there are any changes since 3.3.22 that could break compilation under OS X and Windows. However we'd still like to hear if you compile it successfully on other platforms. (How about solaris?) If you can run the regressions on other platforms, could you let us know if there are any changed results? Did we forget anyone in the file THANKS? Did we forget anything else? If you want to do any testing, we're interested in knowing if the engine is slower than 3.2. I believe that it is, but perhaps the following is true: that level 9 may be comparable to GNU Go 3.2 and about 2 stones stronger. My justification for the strength claim is that level 9 is the same as level 10 with just the breakin code turned off. (So it should be between 10 and 15 percent faster than level 10.) So the level 9 results might be similar to: http://mail.gnu.org/archive/html/gnugo-devel/2003-06/msg00155.html In short, any kind of testing you want to do on this engine would be welcome.
