Not a whole lot more if I use the -V switch. The test.doc file is the same one I uploaded to the page online that allows you to test the libextractor. Am I missing a step somewhere, an env variable. I thought all I had to was unzip the zip file and hey presto off it goes, like (swish-e for example), but I'm currently at a loss and any help would be much appreciated. -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Failing-to-getting-libextractor-%280.5.18%29-working-on-windows-tf3885105.html#a11012247 Sent from the Gnu - Libextractor - General mailing list archive at Nabble.com. I'm working on a Linux User Group in Italy to obtain a little archiver of metadata. The problem is that I'm unable to use extract on my fedora core 6, using the package from my distro. The rpm installed on my PC are: libextractor-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm libextractor-devel-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm libextractor-plugins-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm libextractor-plugins-base-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm libextractor-plugins-exiv2-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm libextractor-plugins-ogg-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm libextractor-plugins-ole2-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm libextractor-plugins-pdf-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm libextractor-plugins-thumbnailgtk-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm libextractor-plugins-thumbnailqt-0.5.17a-1.fc6.x86_64.rpm and the extract version is extract v0.5.17a When I try to execute the sample about the index page on Linux Journal I obtain nothing. extract index.html (no response) exiftool index.html ExifTool Version Number : 6.77 File Name : index.html Directory : . File Size : 32 kB File Modification Date/Time : 2007:06:16 19:36:21 File Type : HTML MIME Type : text/html Title : Linux Journal | Content Type : text/html; charset=utf-8 I searched something by google, but it's very hard to find something about a so common word like extract. I don't have any direct experiences with FC6 packages. This feels like it maybe a problem with how the RPMs were built. Try locating where the plugins were installed and set the environment variable LIBEXTRACTOR_PREFIX to the directory above (so that the plugins are in lib/libextractor/*.so). That *may* help. Alternatively, you might just want to compile LE by hand -- should not be hard. > Tnx in advance for your attention, and tnx above all for your job. You're welcome. Christian
