[AUCTeX] Are multiple selection regions possible in AUCTeX?

Hi,

In M$ Word, you can select several regions in a document and do the same 
operations on them.  For example, given a sentence as follows,

   "It is a nice function to select and process multiple regions."

you can select "nice function", "select", and "process" together and make 
them boldface and/or italic by one or two operations or delete them or other 
operations.

Does this also possible in Emacs and AUCTeX?
