I've now changed calls to start.exe in tex-mik.el and tex-fptex.el
accordingly.

I'm not sure if we should do another release due to this bug.  People
can download and compile the updated files if they don't want to
change the variables involved.  At least I'll include the fix in the
next Emacs+AUCTeX bundle.
