Ok, found it in the archives, didn't make it to the mailing list,
strange.

Anyway, why
        makeinfo --pdf
and
        texi2pdf
work differently, is a mystery to me... The man page of makeinfo
tells me:
      --dvi, --dvipdf, --ps, --pdf
              call texi2dvi to generate given output.

Hmmmmm...

Anyway, one can leave the texi2dvi and texi2pdf as is, and just
use makeinfo for html.

I will inquire with texinfo people why makeinfo --pdf and texi2pdf
behave differently.
