C++ generating bad code...

Could someone comment on the status of the C++ code that's generated?   
I'm the FreeBSD port maintainer and just added a patch that supposedly  
fixes this.  The patch was floated on the mailing list, but never made  
it into the official tarball.  Could someone comment as to why this  
wasn't included or potentially commit the patch for the following  
release?  Please CC me as I'm not subscribed to this list.  Thanks.
