Yes you are right, I double checked the gettext code responsible for the
substitution and it should work. I will run some tests spare time to
check out why this happens exactly.
I'm on Ubuntu Dapper, so coreutils at 5.93-5ubuntu4 and gettext at
0.14.5-2ubuntu3. Both are new enough to support this.
