This particular failure happens because echo under /bin/sh on macOS
doesn’t recognise the -n flag:
(string-equal "11111" "-n 11111
")
It claims to be:
$ /bin/sh --version
GNU bash, version 3.2.57(1)-release (x86_64-apple-darwin16)
