If I skim this bug report correctly, the problem was that the package
didn't follow the expected package.el conventions -- but that this has
been fixed.  While we could make package.el more resilient in these
situations, I think the right solution is what was done here (i.e.,
update the package itself).  So I'm closing this bug report.
