I think this may be worthy of an FAQ entry anyway, since quite a few distributions contain older coreutils versions. You already did a prototype "implementation," so it should not be too much work?
Of course most people ignore warnings, and of those who don't only a select few will check if a report is necessary before sending one. Thus I would expect a minimal impact only.
