Support for CSV file format on sort

Hello,

I'm planning to make some changes to the sort utility for supporting the
CSV file format, in particular about quoting, as described in RFC 4180.

Is the CSV format something that the coreutils team is wishing to avoid ?

If you are willing to accept CSV support, what would be your advice as a
starting point : making a different tool (such as sort-csv), or making
changes to the existing sort code, in particular about key fields, which
then should be able to accept named keys (CSV header fields) ?
