I expect you don't plan on merging this branch into master (i.e. you'll
make a patch for it instead), so:
- please use a branch named scratch/<branchname> for that (we use this
  convention so as to know whether the commit messages and general
  quality are expected to be "good for master").
- even if you don't need to follow the commit message conventions, you
  might like to get used to using the present/imperative tense rather than
  the past tense, since it's usually shorter/simpler (once you get used
  to it).
