The purpose of the current discussion is only to do something to give them a feeling of curiosity instead of a feeling of fear.

Which is not something I disagree with. All I’m saying is that a user who has no interest in Emacs should not be how we’re designing for. Because that limits what you can achieve.


What I'm saying is that a user who does not know Emacs is initially neither interested nor desinterested. They just start a text editor. The purpose of this guided tour is precisely to make them interested.

If the first feeling they have is fear, the become disinterested (or at least are more likely to become disinterested). If the first feeling they have is curiosity, they become interested (or at least are more likely to become interested).
