The pictures where rather large (400-500k JPEG files, resulting in
large bitmaps in memory, perhaps), and maybe I did not kill all the
buffers... I also remember that I had been fiddling with some other
code that inflooped while allocating memory. I don't remember whether
I ran it from eshell, ie. as a subprocess within Emacs, or not.
I will pay closer attention to these facts next time.
