ruler-mode breaks shell scrolling |

In GNU Emacs 21.3.50.21 (i686-pc-linux-gnu)
of 2003-03-22 on jailhouse.chezmarshall.freeserve.co.uk
configured using `configure '--with-x-toolkit=gtk''
Important settings:
value of $LC_ALL: address@hidden
value of $LC_COLLATE: en_GB
value of $LC_CTYPE: en_GB
value of $LC_MESSAGES: en_GB
value of $LC_MONETARY: en_GB
value of $LC_NUMERIC: en_GB
value of $LC_TIME: en_GB
value of $LANG: en_GB
locale-coding-system: iso-latin-9
default-enable-multibyte-characters: t
(but maybe it's not meant to be used in a shell buffer?)
M-x shell
M-x ruler-mode
and then a command with plenty of output, my cursor doesn't stay at eob as
I would expect. If the commend takes some time to complete you can keep on
moving the point to eob and it keeps on moving away...
