I can not reproduce this problem. I ran:
cvs -z3 -d address@hidden:/cvsroot/emacs co .
cd emacs
make distclean
./configure --without-toolkit-scroll-bars
make bootstrap
sudo make install
without the slightest problem. Possibly:
configured using `configure '--with-gtk''
could be the problem, but I can not check, because my GTK version is
not recent enough.
