Now that `fancy-diary-display-mode' inherits from text-mode, it does
things like turn on Flyspell in that buffer when I run it (or rather
failed to run it at startup, rather confusingly). I think it should
use fundamental-mode instead.
There's no changelog entry for `fancy-diary-display-mode', by the way.
