True, the MS-DOG port doesn't support images, but it still matters,
since the entire distro needs to be untarred before Emacs can be
built, and untarring such names causes unpleasant effects, depending
on what program is used for that...

I'd recommend the latter, but I don't really mind as long as the
problem goes away.
