I know about C-l, and it's still much worse.

Issues I have are: (1) I shouldn't have to type C-l -- entering a filename by
hand should not be a magic step, and (2) the name entry shouldn't be a
separate dialogue, it should just be a part of the main file dialogue (like
the old one), and (3) the behavior of the file-name entry dialogue is
atrocious -- slow and flaky, especially the behavior of the TAB key (which
worked great in the old dialogue, quick and almost exactly like emacs or
bash).

It seems pretty clear that they this new dialogue was not adequately tested;
hopefully the feedback they're receiving in response to the release will
help fix some of these problems.
