Karl, could you please tell why did you put @insertcopying in the Top
node of texinfo.txi (as opposed to having it only outside of any node),
I felt that since the copying permissions were easily visible to readers
of the printed manual, they should be easily visible to readers of
online manuals, too. (Unfortunately there is nowhere as inconspicuous
as the back of the title page to put it.)
and what are your thoughts about the importance of this in a
GNU manual, e.g., in Emacs's?
I don't have strong feelings about it. As rms says, it's not relevant
legally -- it's just information for the readers. Perhaps it helps
spread free software / free documentation in a small way.
