vc mode exits with unsaved buffers

Please describe exactly what actions triggered the bug
and the precise symptoms of the bug:

I have a directory of files under version control. After going to dired mode and
selecting several files to commit, C-x vv puts me in the commit message buffer, 
where
I can type my message. Another C-x vv then commits the files, however If I 
accidently 
type C-x cv emacs closes immediately without warning about unsaved buffers.    

If emacs crashed, and you have the emacs process in the gdb debugger,
please include the output from the following gdb commands:
    `bt full' and `xbacktrace'.
If you would like to further debug the crash, please read the file
/usr/share/emacs/22.0.50/etc/DEBUG for instructions.
