How much time did you think you needed? Building Emacs out of CVS
takes about half an hour on a reasonably fast machine, during which
time you do absolutely nothing except wait for it to finish. It's
very simple, really.
You don't have to do nothing during that time. It can be building
in the background, and meanwhile you can go on editing.
