Yes, sometimes the X server sends back an event fast enough so that
the Emacs frame is still around so we can map X window to frame.  But
sometimes the event is a bit late, and Emacs has removed the frame data
structures so Emacs can't map the X window to a frame, hence f becomes
NULL.
