RE: appt-display-format has bad Customize default and no value menu

    Sorry, I did not read carefully enough the first time. I see custom
    barfs if I have a default value which is not in the allowed value
    list. I guess I will have to add 'ignore to the allowed value list. I
    wanted to avoid this because I specifically wanted people to have to
    choose any of the other settings when they customized this variable.
    Maybe I'm going about this wrong...

I don't understand the problem you tried to describe, so I can't offer any
help with it. But whatever you do, there should be a Value Menu of possible
values. Thx.
