Yes just as you said. Gnus wrapped the line when posting.

Sorry should be "(#". I had a typo in my first message.

So it must be Emacs 23 problem. (auto-composed nil) should not be
 written into registry as I understand.

So you mean it's a Gnus problem? So I'll report to Gnus team.
