Here is how I compile emacs. Log for each step is attached.  Emacs:
GNU Emacs (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.10.3) of

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/packages/emacs --enable-debug --with-gtk 
--with-xft --enable-font-backend

2. make bootstrap
