Could you be a little more specific about what the legal problem is?

- Did your previous employment contract forbid you from assigning
  copyright for your Emacs changes, or was it some other restriction?

- Are you in fact free to offer the version python.el available on
  your webpage, or does your employment contract prevent you from
  distributing and licensing that version under the GPL?  (This
  doesn't affect Emacs directly, but would help clarify things).

- How far back do the above restrictions/problems go?  Does it affect
  the 2004-05-06 merge of the Emacs CVS python.el to your python.el,
  which was initiated by you on the emacs-pretest-bug mailing list?
  How about earlier or later versions?
