Agreed on all points… except perhaps for ‘guix search’ which I think got
better just today. :-)

‘guix pull’ ideally doesn’t compile things and gets substitutes instead,
but it’s still very slow indeed. Part of that is an issue with Guile’s
compiler. Another part of it is the “Computing Guix derivation” bit,
which takes a bit less than a minute; this one could benefit from the
“recursive derivation” thing I listed (aka. “recursive Nix”).
