Chris Cera <address@hidden> described the package as follows:
License: gpl
Other License:
Package: MUG
System name: mug
This package wants to apply for inclusion in the GNU project

MUG is a multi-user environment for collaborative conceptual shape design. It
is similar to a CAD program, and it is our hope that MUG can be used to
supplement, or in conjunction with, another CAD program whenever the functional
representation of a complex artifact, terrain, or architectural structure is
desired. It is a tool which allows design engineers and architects to annotate
the structure-behavior-function (S-B-F) description of an artifact. This
description is specified in DARPA Agent Markup Language (DAML), a variant of
the Resource Description Framework (RDF). Through the use of JavaSpaces, a
full multi-user session can be started with several clients simultaneously
working on the same design space. MUG is able to save and serialize a design
space as a DAML file, which can also be extended to the serialization of any
Java objects. It is our hope that MUG will increase the proliferation,
availability, and support of semantic ontologies specified in DAML. MUG
includes import filters for the Virtual Reality Markup Language (VRML), so any
model specified in this format can be imported and exported. MUG also uses its
own protocol and library for synchronous mathematical construction of
Non-Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS), which are used to specify curves and
surfaces using any number of weighted control points.

MUG has been implemented using Sun Microsystems\' Java, Java3D, XJ3D, Jini,
JavaSpaces, and Java Media Framework.
