OH SWEET I JUST FIGRUED IT OUT! ^_^

The problem was I was running putty.exe to make the SSH connection, and then
using TortoiseCVS for the update, putting in the putty session name instead
of the cvs hostname. (As the UserGuide_en.chm Versain 1.8.0 suggests doing)

When trying that' both putty.exe and TortoiseCVS just hang after the
authentication screen.

I've completely cut out using putty.exe and now just use pageant.exe and
TortoiseCVS checks out fine.

PS, why do you call it "Woe"?  Is it because that's what you get from using
it? Hehe.
