[AUCTeX] about amsmath error handling

Hi all,
when i make an error in an amsmath  syntax then auctex behaves a bit strange. When I type C-c` the window splits in half as expected with the lower giving some info. But the upper is an empty file called MiKTeX 2.7 in nroff-mode!
You can try writing an align environment with some errors in it, to see if this happens
