The only programs able to understand the idiosyncratic default output of
TeX are special TeX shells (like AUCTeX) and those should be able to get
along with file_line_error_style by now and be more reliable when using
it.
All non-TeX specific compilation tools will fare _much_ better with
file_line_error_style.
