Details:

I have put the ax_check_gnu_make.m4 in m4/ subdirectory of my project, I have
used the AC_MACRO_DIR macro in configure.ac and although I have multiple
macros in m4 directory, this AX_CHECK_GNU_MAKE did not want to expand no
matter what.

Then I have removed a newline in the macro definition file - and it started
to work!

I am aware that the whitespace should not matter, so maybe this is a bug, but
I am not sure, so maybe you can check it out.
