didn't mean to scare anyone. it is just that there are several 
things that are not apparent. i'd recommend trying to build a
system with your changes, look at the generated lisp code,
look at the compiled code, look at where the code you are 
changing is used in the rest of the library, etc. 
and ask questions. i can't tell you everything but i can give
you guys some idea of the issues if you ask particular questions.
