HI
I am using a Dell DDS72 drive with DDS72 cart, Ubuntu 12.04 on i386.
> mt -f /dev/st0 retension
This fails if cart is read-only, works with write-permit.
This is HIGHLY UNDESIRABLE.
It is very useful to be able to retension a tape that contains
valuable data prior
to reading that data, to reduce risk of read errors. Placing the cart
in a writiable state
risks the valuable data (especially if you have more than one drive online).
