'make check' succeeds without any warnings and I'm able to debug the
sample app.  However, after a 'make install' running ddd produces all
the errors (see original post for error log).

Also, If I do a 'make check' from the cygwin bash window, it comes up
just fine.  Doing the same from DOS shell (with the cygwin stuff in
the path) comes up with all those errors.

Puzzled...
