I am pleased to announce the release of version 4.2.18 of GNU
findutils. This is a bugfix release; the list of bugs fixed appears
below.

GNU findutils is a set of software tools for finding files that match
certain criteria and for performing various operations on them.
Findutils includes the programs "find", "xargs" and "locate".

This is a "stable" release of findutils. It can be downloaded from
ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/findutils. The ftp.gnu.org site is very
busy, so you may find it more convenient to download findutils from
one of the mirror sites listed at http://www.gnu.org/order/ftp.html.

The previous stable release of findutils was version 4.2.15 (versions
4.2.16 and 4.2.17 were available only on alpha.gnu.org). More
information about findutils is available at
http://www.gnu.org/software/findutils/.

Version 4.2.18 of findutils was previously available from
alpha.gnu.org. This release is the identical file; the only
difference is that it is now available on ftp.gnu.org.

All releases of findutils are digitally signed; the GPG (GNU Privacy
Guard) keyring containing the keys used to sign all GNU software
packages on ftp.gnu.org can be downloaded from the GNU Project's FTP
site at ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/gnu-keyring.gpg. More information
on the GNU Privacy Guard can be found at http://www.gnupg.org/.

Bugs in GNU findutils should be reported to the findutils bug tracker
at http://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?group=findutils. Reporting bugs via
the web interface will ensure that you are automatically informed when
the bug has been fixed. General discussion of findutils takes place
on the bug-findutils mailing list. To join the 'bug-findutils'

* Major changes in release 4.2.18
** Bug Fixes
*** "find -depth" was missing out non-leaf directories when they contain
non-directories. This affected findutils releases 4.2.15,
4.2.16 and 4.2.17, but the bug is now fixed.
*** Find no longer hangs on systems which are clients of unresponsive
    NFS servers.
** Documentation improvements
*** Improvements and corrections to the find.1 manpage, including
corrections to the descriptions of -H and -L.

* Major changes in release 4.2.17
** Bug Fixes
*** bug #11861 undefined symbol "basename" on IRIX 5.3
*** bug #11865 xargs -i regression (as compared to findutils-4.2.12)
*** bug #11866 Typo in pred_okdir renders it useless (affecting 4.2.16 only)
*** patch #3723 fix recent process_top_path change (for -execdir on /)
*** Fixing bug #11866 and applying patch #3723 made -execdir work much better.
*** find bar/baz/ugh now works again if baz is a symbolic link (broken
    in 4.2.15).

* Major changes in release 4.2.16
** Functionality Changes
*** Updated the message catalogues for the translated messages.
*** The subfs filesystem is now treated the same as the autofs
    filesystem is.
*** New translations: Belarusian, Catalan, Greek, Esperanto,
Finnish, Irish, Croatian, Hungarian, Japanese, Luganda,
Malay, Romanian, Slovenian, Serbian, Chinese (simplified).
** Bug Fixes
*** The -execdir action now works correctly for files named on the
    command line.

I would like to thank Dmitry V. Levin, Bas van Gompel, Peter
Breitenlohner, Jim Meyering, Karl Berry and Andreas Metzler for their
recent help.
