Which is not what we are talking about. That issue was already
discussed and closed as far as I could tell.

And I'm merely adding that such a change should be done via a
command-line option, not an environment variable.

Which doesn't change the default case of supplying no options.
You are going in circles using arguments that have already been
discussed
and ceded as well as bringing in tired-old-saws about the evils of Unix's
ENV vars. Do those hobgloblins keep you up at night?
