.debug_pubnames and .debug_aranges (DWARF2) not utilized by gdb?

Hi.
I was looking at gdb5.0 source and noticed that
dwarf2read.c:dwarf2_build_psymtabs_easy, which reads in symbols info
from .debug_pubnames and .debug_aranges, was if-def'ed out.
Does this mean gdb currently does not support (i.e. ignores) these
sections altogether? Or am I missing something?
I would appreciate any insight. Thank you in advance.
