Hello.

I received this report from the Debian bug system.

I see that gettext 0.18.2 has this feature, but I can't find
gettext 0.18.2 in ftp.gnu.org (!).

So: Would be possible to release gettext 0.18.2? :-)

In order to make autopoint more standalone and prevent the need for
having git and friends installed on buildds to run autopoint during
build-time, it might make sense to switch to the 'dir' format, but
switch compression to xz. This also saves space compared to the
git format:
