Probably because TeX generates `.log' files that one rarely wants
to look at. With the default setting of completion-ignored-extensions,
TAB will properly ignore all files generated by TeX (there's a whole
bunch more than just .log) and slect .tex for you (unless you used
dvips since `.ps' is not in completion-ignored-extensions by default).
