How does a symlink-to-executable implies that find-file should support
redirection to the real file?  It would imply that running a shortcut
(with, e.g., call-process) invokes the target of the shortcut, but I
think this happens automatically on Windows.

As for editing the shortcut, I agree that it would be a useful
feature, but I don't think this is what was requested by the OP.
