No it hasn't.  The patch would break diff3 on POSIX systems, would
make the code harder to read with extra #ifs, and isn't autoconfized.
A lot more work would have to be done before the patch would be
acceptable.

At this point we should probably just give it a rest.  Perhaps once
you've ported more stuff to MVS you can build up a porting library
that you can reuse, one that entails minimal changes to the upstream
sources.
